Our Staff

Hyde is comprised of knowledgeable professionals who understand the fundamentals of construction and strive to deliver exceptional results to every client. Our team’s success is dependent upon the drive and determination of each member. Since 1981, Hyde’s core leadership has steered the company to its present position. This group of professionals has grown from individual contributors to a veteran team with more than a century of combined experience.

Richard W. Hyde, Jr., CEO

Dick’s career includes countless examples of construction management and project leadership. After studying Civil Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, Dick worked with national construction companies such as Hunt Building Corporation, Jackson Construction Company, Barken Construction and Walden Construction as a Project Manager. Dick later served as Project Manager and Construction Director for the Mass Bay Transportation Authority.

Exposure to myriad general contracting companies spurred Dick’s entrance into the design-build field. He was a strong voice advocating change and applying efficient construction management principles to all his projects. In 1981 as numerous companies emerged in the Boston area with a need for interior spaces, Dick organized his own team of professionals and formed R.W. Hyde Construction, Inc.

Dick’s foresight and consistent participation has continued to support the success of R.W. Hyde Construction. He holds current Construction Superintendent licenses for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, City of Boston, City of Cambridge and Major Contractor license for the State of Connecticut.
Dick loves spending time on the water for sport and leisure.

An accomplished yachtsman, Dick’s boat Freightrain, has won numerous sailing regattas throughout New England with him at the helm.

Richard F. Canales, Jr., President

Rick joined Hyde Construction in 1986 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

Since then his responsibilities have grown from Project Supervisor to Project Manager to President of R.W. Hyde Construction. Due to his general contracting experience, Rick excels at project estimates and working with Hyde’s clients to achieve their goals on time and within their budgets.

A native Catamount, Rick keeps active outside Hyde spending his time in Gloucester at the beach with his family or on his boat Saltwater fishing.

Marshall (Mott) Meeks, General Supervisor

In 1985 Marshall (Mott) Meeks joined another Lexington native, Dick Hyde, to help build R.W. Hyde Construction. Prior to joining Hyde, Mott had his own residential construction and renovation company, Woodplane, Inc. While Mott had studied at the Boston Architectural Center and worked for the architectural firm, Drummey Rosane Anderson, his talents were focused on the use of tools and materials. Mott is a craftsman and it’s that skill and knowledge that he brought with him to the construction business. You won’t find Mott in the office, he works in the field and has been the primary focus of the successful services Hyde has provided to its clients.

If Mott is not working on a Hyde project he’s working on a personal project in his woodworking shop at home. For example, he built a hand-made wooden canoe which received praise from Wooden Boat magazine. He also continues to add to his collection of fine antique canes and is known by many for his popular Halloween extravaganzas.

Rich Crouse, New Business Development

Rich Crouse is the Swiss Army Knife of R.W. Hyde. Rich joined us in 2012 after a 20 year career as an HVAC mechanic at Digital Equipment and most recently as sales executive. While sales and marketing are Rich’s forte, he also expedites all our building permits. A talent for problem solving allows Rich to serve as a project manager or job superintendent when the need arises, performing very well in both roles.

Rich is happily married and resides in Acton where he grew up spending his summers riding motorcycles and his winters skiing. He now enjoys the same activities with his high school son.

Chris Varney, Project Manager

Chris joined Hyde Construction in 2013 and worked as a Job Supervisor for 2 years handling a range of challenging projects. Interest in the business side of the industry prompted a transition into a role as Project Manager in 2015.

In his free time Chris enjoys volleyball, cycling, Vermont craft beer and cooking.

Marc W. Pinansky, Project Manager

Representing Maynard, Marc joined Hyde in the winter of 2021 as a commercial carpenter and rose quickly through the ranks as an OSHA 30, Massachusetts Licensed Construction Supervisor to Project Manager. As a residential carpenter, Marc balanced finish carpentry work for luxury condominiums with all manner of administrative and managerial tasks.

A graduate of Colby College, Marc’s varied career has included running Qualitative Analysis Market Research projects for clients such as Disney, Netflix, and the NFL, managing/buying for an award-winning retail store, and producing music for nationally-airing commercials for McDonalds, Unilever, and Heineken.

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and producer, Marc’s music has been featured in Rolling Stone, on MTV, and toured supporting acts ranging from Alice Cooper to Drive-by Truckers. His love of music is shared with his wife, a professional singer, and their young son, a burgeoning drummer.

Kathy Meoli, Office Manager

Kathy joined our team in 2015 bringing over thirty five (35) years of Financial and Customer Service experience. Kathy is the person who works behind the scenes to keep our Belmont office running smoothly. She manages all aspects of day to day office operations in addition to assisting our staff and clients with any and all requests.

When Kathy is not working she enjoys spending time reading and relaxing in the sun. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and dogs.
