300 Unicorn Park

National Development hired Hyde Construction to oversee the modernization of their lobby and restrooms at 300 Unicorn Park. Completing this project without shutting down the lobby and elevators created a significant challenge. Hyde demolished 10 tons of travertine tile and subfloor in a weekend to make way for a beautiful imported Italian ceramic tile. An oversized and impractical planter was replaced with a much sleeker version which greatly improved the floor space and seating area.

This project consisted of an entry lobby, elevator lobby, large seating area and cafeteria renovations. To give the space a unique feel, a variety of custom materials and techniques were used. In the foyer a textured white wall tile was installed. The elevators were wrapped in beautiful American Walnut wood paneling.  Spagnolo, Gisness and Associates architects chose this paneling for the horizontal grain pattern. Because of the high lobby ceiling and the width at different elevations, highly skilled fabrication techniques were required in order to achieve a consistent grain and color upon installation of the panels. Full height stainless steel corners were also added for durability and integrated into the panel system. Glass doors with cladded channels were installed to give the cafeteria a high end, modern and open feel.  A glass wall tile and a multi colored luxury vinyl tile in a unique and distinct pattern was installed in the cafeteria. Installation of a new ceiling and modern light fixtures put the finishing touch on this spacious lobby renovation.

Museum of Science

The 3200 sq. ft 4D theater at the Museum of Science presented some interesting challenges which required significant coordination to accomplish. Light gauge metal framing was employed to create tiered seating and a control/projection room. Raceways allowed for electrical, process and mechanical systems to support the show systems and controls required for a unique 4D experience. This exhibit, designed by Torrey Architecture is continuously a huge success and immensely popular at the Museum.

Ross-Simons

The very first Ross-Simons retail store opened in historic Providence, Rhode Island in 1952 with a mission to provide exceptional quality jewelry and luxury items at the most affordable prices possible. As the concept took off, the company quickly expanded — their second and third stores followed in 1965 and 1975. Today, Ross-Simons now operates 14 retail and outlet stores in eight states. Hyde proudly added to that total with its newest location in the Mall at Chestnut Hill in Newton MA. The store was adorned with high level finishes, custom millwork, and high tech security features. As part of the malls new redevelopment it certainly stands out as one of their premier luxury retailers.
